Listen: Is Drake’s ‘Days In The East’ About Rihanna?

After hitting the gridiron for “Draft Day” over 24 hours ago, Drake slows down the tempo and lays down his pipes for “Days In The East.” Against 40’s signature haunting melody, reminiscent of the Take Care era, Aubrey tries to conquer his feelings for a special lady:

“Spending all my days on the East side/ forgetting who I was on the other side up/ Young nigga switchin up the program right now/ tryna put the power in my own hands right now”

At first listen, the East side could mean the East Coast, particularly New York, where his current rumored girlfriend Rihanna resides. The couple-non-couple, also known as Aubrih, has been on a global affair after the bad gal joined him for his Would You Like A Tour? all over Europe (hence, the real East for this song).

After blowing kissy faces to her in the crowd and performing Rih’s single “Stay” overseas, you could say the Toronto kid has got it bad.

“Waiting for you to give in and hit me up/ So I can fall through like old times and hit it up”

And as pointed out by Niki of KarenCivil.com, there’s a fragment of “Stay” right before he breaks down a love lesson he once learned from Erykah Badu.

Before you said “you’re mine”, I was yours already…

Play it fast and listen slow below.
