Eminem and Rihanna's new track is a monster indeed.
The Detroit lyricist and Bajan badass have collaborated for the next single from Em's Marshall Mathers LP 2, a folky pop hit called "The Monster" that confronts Slim Shady's inner demons and OCD tendencies. Co-writer Bebe Rexha—whose backing vocals are audible on the hook—didn't lie: This one will rule your FM dial well into 2014.
"You gotta be one of those hurting kids in a dark head space to get through and help," said Rexha, who told VIBE last week that she plans on getting a tattoo that reads The Monsters Are Real. "It's really about helping. The fact that I have Eminem and Rihanna putting that message out makes it OK for me. Even though [the song] was for my project, it makes it like, 'Wow, like this has a purpose.' That's what makes me the most happy."
