When AWOLNATION aka Aaron Bruno released the track "Sail" in 2011 it brought the then 31-year-old singer, who for more than a decade had flip-flopped between alternative rock and post-grunge bands (Under the Influence of Giants, Home Town Hero) newfound solo fame under the all-caps moniker. The strung-out song became the new emo anthem for pill-induced hangovers thanks to its catchy hook "blame it on my ADD, baby." Macy Gray covered it, and countless parodies for the track's video soon surfaced. The buzz isn't wearing off anytime soon. Two years since dropping, the catchy tune gets a remix by hip-hop's new don, Kendrick Lamar, and fellow Black Hippy Ab-Soul.
K-Dot and Ab-Soul keep it short, but mostly they accomplish reaching a new audience by taking a ride on Bruno's self-loathing and dazed number. Listen to Kendrick and Ab-Soul go grunge below.
