Singers these days come a dime a baker’s dozen. But you know the special ones. You just hear it. One listen of Miguel’s All I Want Is You or Frank Ocean’s nostalgia,ULTRA. were enough to forecast a long, vibrant musical career.

Make way for another brilliant songwriter/singer: KES.

Like the aforementioned crooners, he hails from L.A. and brings an eclectic musical style of his own, blending pop, R&B, electro-funk, soul and new wave. His music is simultaneously nostalgic and futuristic. He pulls from David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Phil Collins, Rick James and Prince, colliding influences that have meshed into a vocalist who immediately garnered attention from Babyface and L.A. Reid, the latter of whom signed KES to Epic Records.

If you’ve got any type of soul living inside of your skin, KES’ genre-bending new EP Audio Justice will become a fixture in your iTunes. Press play below. And thank us later. —John Kennedy
