The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will induct Tom Waits, Neil Diamond, Darlene Love and the Alice Cooper Band into its 2011 class.
Diamond was eligible for the honor for several years but never previously received a nomination however, he was nonchalant about it.
"I thought about it occasionally, but I kind of figured they'd get around to me at some point," he told the AP in a phone interview.
It took three tries before Love, known for hits like as "(Today I Met) The Boy I'm Gonna Marry" and her work with producer Phil Spector and the Blossoms, was approved for the hall. According to PopEater, when reached on Tuesday, an enthusiastic Love said: "I can actually breathe."
Yet some folks like LL Cool J, The Beastie Boys and Donna Summer will have to try again next year as they were turned away for the 2011 crop. This last batch of people aren't really "rock" but good luck anyway, maybe 2012 will render their coveted nods.
