Olympic hurdler Lolo Jones drew criticism on Thursday (June 28) when she compared the key witness in the Trayvon Martin trial, Rachel Jeantel, to Tyler Perry’s Madea.
The 19-year-old witness, who was reportedly the last to speak to Martin on the phone before his murder, faced controversy during her trial, particularly in her defense of Martin’s referral to George Zimmerman, the man who fatally shot Martin, as a “creepy-ass cracker.”
Jones hopped on Twitter during the televised trial and joked that Jeantel looked so irritated that she could pass as a Tyler Perry Madea movie.
Rachel Jeantel looked so irritated during the cross-examination that I burned it on DVD and I'm going to sell it as Madea goes to court.

The blogosphere rushed to her critique and defense, but few on Twitter found Jones’ comparison of Jeantel to the violent mammy figure amusing.
