Chances are, you’ve emailed a Lonely Island video with the subject line, “LMAO" at some point. Now, Andy Samberg and his comedy bros are elevating from parody videos and Saturday Night Live skits and working on a real movie.
According to Variety, the trio of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer — who created skits like “Lazy Sunday” and the Justin Timberlake-featured “Dick in a Box” — landed a development deal with Universal Pictures to produce and star in a film.
Another win: the flick is a collaboration with Judd Apatow, who’s on board as a producer.
The storyline apparently has something to do with the music industry. Lonely Island has a background there, having released two albums, Incredibad and Turtleneck & Chain.
