New Zealand maverick Lorde isn’t a fan of the term “teen hottie,” particularly when it’s used to describe her.

In an interview with The New York Times, the “Royals” singer gave a thumbs down to the label, saying it makes her sick. “The phrase ‘teen hottie’ literally makes me want to throw up,” she said, though she’ll take the crown of mainstream. “I’m a Pop princess at heart.”

The spunky music star says she’s focused on making music her listeners can relate to. “I’m trying to make something people my age will care about, trying to keep my peers feeling like I’m doing something for them or representing them in some way,” she added.

Lorde, who wowed ears with her 2013 debut Pure Heroine, is currently putting together the final touches on her tour in support of the critically acclaimed album, beginning March 3 in Austin, Texas.
