Lupe Fiasco will be returning with a two-part sequel to his debut album Food & Liquor.
In an interview with FUSE, the rapper revealed that he would be releasing the next installment, Food & Liquor 2, as a double album. "This is my fourth album, and this is actually a part one and part two, it’s a double album," he said. "With this record, I wanted to go back to the essence of what made that record so special, the frame of mind I was in when I did Food & Liquor the first time.”
While the 30-year-old, who will no longer be making mixtapes, previously alluded to the possibility of a double album, he now confirms the news along with revealing that the first single will be dropping May 22.
After previous label issues involving his album Lasers, Lupe says that he is now back to being himself as an artist. “It’s the Lupe Fiasco I want to be, without the industry constraints, without the trying to please the hardcore fans or get the new fans,” he said. “It’s just what I would do for myself if nobody ever heard it. This is the kind of music I would make. It’s a masterpiece. It’s really f*cking good
