After making their television debut on The Ellen DeGeneres show a year ago, newly minted Grammy winners Macklemore and Ryan Lewis returned to Ellen's stage to recap their critically-acclaimed Grammy Awards performance for “Same Love” with Madonna and Queen Latifah.
The instrumentalist of the duo, Ryan Lewis, said the storyline of the standing ovation production began with an idea from the ceremony’s producer, Ken Ehrlich.
“His daughter has been a fan for a while and she told him that over the last year a few different times we’ve had proposals on stage that people would email us and be like ‘hey is there anyway that I can propose on stage,’ so we’ve done that a few times, and he thought that was a cool idea and it started building and building and it turned to 33 couples.”
The Heist musicians’ took home four gramophones for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance and Best New Artist.
