With his twelfth studio album Magna Carta Holy Grail dropping Independence Day, Jay-Z continues to juggle his hustles. The mogul-rapper has been officially dubbed by the NBA as a certified agent, ESPN reports.
Ron Berkowitz, spokesperson for Roc Nation Sports, confirmed that Hov and President Juan Perez are licensed with the league to negotiate contracts with athletes. After already recruiting Skylar Diggins, Geno Smith, Robinson Cano and possibly Kevin Durant to his sports roster, it seems Mr. Carter was already clocking in overtime on the job before even signing the paperwork.
The only potential roadblock is that Jay still shares a percentage of ownership in the Brooklyn Nets. According to the NBA, the league prohibits team owners to serve as agents. However, the association's set of regulations should pose no threat to the leader of the #NewRules, who shut down half-time for Game 5 with his album announcement alongside Rick Rubin, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and Pharrell.
With the Finals drawing to a close and the draft for next season fast approaching, only time will tell which rising sports stars will soon throw up the Roc sign. –Andrew Asare
