Any cool jetsetter knows that a baby crying on an airplane is a part of the game.
An Ohio native, Joe Rickey Hundley, 60, is accused of slapping a baby in the face as a flight prepared to land in Atlanta. No one knows if the aircraft parts manufacturer is an avid watcher of reality television.
According to Black Like Moi, the incident allegedly occurred during a Delta Airlines flight. Hundley yelled a derogatory remark (he wasn't rapping "Niggas in Paris") and asked him what the five fingers said to the face.
As detailed by FBI Agent Daron Cheney, Hundley was seated next to Jessica Bennett and her two-year-old son. The plane was in its final descent and the child began to cry because of the shift in altitude. Bennett says that was when Hundley called the child by the slur and slapped him with "an open hand, which caused the juvenile victim to scream even louder."
The child has a scratch below his right eye and Hundley was charged with simple assault. If convicted, he can get up to one year in prison—which wouldn't be a stretch for Hundley. In 2007, Hundley was charged with a simple assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and public intoxication in an incident that involved his girlfriend.
Sounds like someone needs to stop being so simple, and slap himself.
