Benetton released a controversial new campaign titled "Unhate" yesterday. The advertisements, which featured political and religious leaders engaging in a photoshopped kiss, included President Barack Obama, Pope Benedict XVI, Venezuela's Hugo Chavez and more. The man on man lip lock quickly began to enrage people around the world but especially in Vatican City according to The NY Daily News. The Vatican protested that the ads be removed, and within a matter of hours they were taken down.
The Italian Luxury clothing company released the ads as a fashion comeback, but also to continue with the company’s tradition of using unorthodox marketing and socially-conscious messages.
