It was the technical glitch heard around the world, only because the whole world was watching. During the Opening Ceremony of the Sochi Olympic Games on Feb. 7, a glowing snowflake malfunctioned when turning into on of the Olympic rings. Twitter soon exploded with the irony of the malfunction. (Russia has been scrutinized in the months leading up to the Olympics for its segregating anti-gay laws.) Satire website Daily Currant took it to the next level, writing a story with the headline: "Man Responsible For Olympic Ring Mishap Found Dead In Sochi." Sadly, people believed the Onion-like headline, despite the stories exaggerated claims.
"Although his body was badly mangled and the wounds were consistent with a struggle, so far officials say they don't suspect foul play," the article joked. Turns out the guys responsible isn't dead, and he's handling the negative press pretty well. Watch above for the full story.
