Yesterday, we reported that Mark Wahlberg was debunked as joining the cast of “Transformer 4,” courtesy of director Michael Bay. It seems that the filmmaker has had second thoughts.

Making it official, Wahlberg has joined the yet-to-be announced cast of “Transformers 4,” which is slated for release on June 27, 2013. Equally awesome is the fact that the action-adventure filmmaker has also revealed the logo for the sci-fi adventure sequel. “Mark is awesome,” Bay says in an official statement. “We had a blast working on ‘Pain and Gain’ and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the ‘Transformers’ legacy.”

Production will begin in the spring of 2013. The film will be produced by Don Murphy & Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce, and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Bay, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian.
