After wowing fans at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel's upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy finally has an official word concerning Vin Diesel's involvement.
Similar to the news that Paul Rudd would play Ant-Man in Edgar Wright's picture, it has been common knowledge amongst comic book movie fans that Vin Diesel would play Groot in Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Diesel took to his Facebook page to post an image of him and the walking, talking space tree and almost at the same time director James Gunn released several very nice comments about the action-adventure star. "Yep, it is completely official," Gunn remarks about his co-star. "I never knew someone could say 'I AM GROOT' so many different ways and with such feeling (and that sounds like I'm kidding but I'm not!)."
Diesel, who is no stranger to lending his voice to projects, had done something different in the form of motion capture. But for anyone who has seen his work in The Iron Giant, there's no one who isn't sure that he won't be capable to pull of the role.
Guardians also stars Chris Pratt as Star Lord, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, Benicio Del Toro, Glenn Close, Dave Bautista, Djimon Hounsou, Ophelia Lovibond, John C. Reilly and, as a talking raccoon who is not a raccoon, Bradley Cooper.
The film will be out August 1, 2014.
