The First Lady of R&B Mary J. Blige is the next artist to join the lineup for the “American Express Unstaged” music series.
In partnership with YouTube and Vevo, American Express will feature The R&B queen online in celebration of her upcoming album My Life II...The Journey Continues (Act I), slated for release on Nov. 21. The show will take place at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles Thursday, Nov. 17 at 8:00PT at and can be viewed on MJB's Vevo channel.
The rehearsal and concert will be filmed by renowned director Adam Shankman (Walk To Remember and The Wedding Planner), who recently cast Blige as the character named Justice in his new film Rock Of Ages. “
We’re going to do the first My Life in its entirety – really make it something special,” Blige told The New York Times.
The "Mr. Wrong" singer is the seventh to join a list of iconic performers for the “Unstaged” series including Coldplay, The Roots, Duran Duran and Arcade Fire. But no pressure. The only demand she is placing is on herself.
“You’ve just got to be focused,” she said. “I think I said the right word. Focused. Because there’s no other words popping up in my head. And that’s really it.”
If you can't watch the webcast, you can also catch the Queen during one of three intimate shows she will be holding throughout November in Oakland, New York City and Atlanta. --Adelle Platon
