Meek Mill hosted the Dream Chasers Celebrity Sports & Entertainment Summit in at Philadelphia’s Temple University Friday (August 30). Bringing together some of the biggest names in the business, the event housed discussions and panels for local high school and college students on what it takes to make it in the sports and entertainment fields.
“I just wanted to put something together motivational for Philadelphia. We never really had these things and I’m one of the newest cats that came out of here on his way to success,” Meek told HipHopSince1987. “So I just wanted to bring some energy back this way and put people on game with what it takes to last in this world, in a successful world.”
Sharing his own latest business venture, Meek Mill showed off his new “24K” headphone collaboration with Monster. Backed by Monster’s CEO Noel Lee, the two promised quality sound for fans to listen to the rapper’s upcoming Dreamchasers 3 project, on which Meek said he would be “going at everybody head.”
The rapper also touched briefly on his upcoming clothing line, as well as his exclusive peach Puma Clyde sneakers. He pointed to money and competition as the fuel behind his business hustle.
“Man, I just like to make money. I got family to take care of,” he said. “I like working. I like building things from the bottom so it’s competition to me. It ain’t really all about the money. It’s really competition. No matter if we playing checkers, soccer, dirt bikes, [wheeling], whatever it is. I just like building things and getting better.”
