Mekhi Phifer To Star in Sci-Fi Drama Series 'Torchwood'

Posted December 29, 2010

Mekhi Phifer is about to go CIA for a new role on the small screen.

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Phifer will be joining the fourth season of the sci-fi drama Torchwood, as the character Rex Matheson, a CIA agent with sharp sense of humor who begins to fear death after his life is put in danger.

The 36-year old actor best known for his film roles in 8 Mile and Paid In Full, has been a very busy presence on television over the last decade. Most recently, Phifer appeared on FOX’s Lie To Me and he’s also slated to star in the new upcoming Lifetime action TV movie, Close Quarters. Phifer also spent a six-year stint as Dr. Gregory Pratt on the long running medical drama, ER.

The drama series, Torchwood will air on both the BBC and Starz channels in 2011. —Ronke Idowu Reeves
