One day after his arrest for allegedly hitting wife Evelyn Lozada, wide receiver Chad Johnson has been released from the Miami Dolphins, an NFL insider says.
According to ESPN, the player formerly known as Ochocinco was released on $2,500 bond Sunday after his wife accused him of head-butting her during an argument in front of their home. Johnson was charged with simple domestic battery, a misdemeanor.
After a disappointing season with the New England Patriots last year, Johnson was vying for a spot on the Miami team.
Johnson's defense attorney, Adam Swickle, says a no-contact order has been issued that prevents Johnson from contacting Lozada. The incident, which reportedly happened after Johnson found a receipt she had for a box of condoms, comes after a month of marriage to the "Basketball Wives" starlet.
Their joint reality show "Ev And Ocho" is due this September.
