Miley Cyrus Covers Lana Del Ray’s ‘Summertime Sadness’

/ November 13, 2013

Hating Miley Cyrus is the cool thing to do nowadays, but have you actually heard her flex her vocal chops? She killed it on Future’s new single “Real and True,” and now she’s given people another reason to stop fronting with her cover of Lana Del Ray’s “Summertime Sadness” on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. Surrounded by a live band and backing singers, Miley inhabits Lana’s voice and makes the song her own. She’s cruising until she hits the bridge, and suddenly it’s clear that Miley is more than just someone to hate.

Listen to the melancholy track above, and try to drop your preconceived notions when you do. You might end up *gasp* liking what she does.
