MTV continues to roll-out their star-studded list of performers for the 2013 Video Music Awards as hip-pop chanteuse Miley Cyrus and VIBE cover star Robin Thicke have just been announced to take the stage.
Thicke and Cyrus currently have the top two songs on Billboard's Hot 100 with their respective hits "Blurred Lines" and "We Can't Stop." As they dominate the charts and summer soundtracks, it's only fitting that both artists have also been nominated in a new category. aptly titled "Best Song of the Summer," powered by Window's Phone where fans can take to social media to choose the winner.
Nominees for the award include Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” featuring Pharrell, Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding's “I Need Your Love,” Selena Gomez’s “Come & Get It,” One Direction’s “Best Song Ever,” and Thicke and Cyrus' aforementioned tunes. Fans are being urged to vote via Twitter, Instagram or Vine by using the appropriate hashtag: #votemiley, #votedaftpunk, #voteselena, #voteonedirection, #votethicke, or #votecalvinandellie.
MTV will celebrate the forthcoming performances and appearance by airing a block of videos and performances from Cyrus, Thicke and One Direction on their affiliate channel MTV Hits beginning at 3pm ET/PT today. Catch Thicke and Cyrus join Kanye West, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and others at the 2013 MTV VMAs airing August 25.
