When news spread that the 19-year-old daughter of Oscar-nominated actor Laurence Fishburne was pursuing a career in porn, the salacious headline became the dominant talk of tabloid and mainstream media outlets. Yet, Montana Fishburne, who recently signed a deal with adult movie powerhouse Vivid Entertainment and released a sex tape under the name Chippy D, says that critics labeling her move to porn as being contemptuous towards her dad are missing the point.

“I understand why some people say I’m being disrespectful to my father,” Montana told VIBE. “But at the same time there are hundreds of women in porn and they all have fathers. The only reason people care so much about what my dad thinks is because he’s famous.”

Montana, who recently told TMZ that Laurence Fishburne has disowned her since joining the adult film industry, adds that, contrary to public opinion, her adult film career does not have any negative effect on her dad’s rich Hollywood legacy.

“I think the people criticizing me should understand that my father is a very well-respected, well-known actor,” she continued to VIBE. “My career in porn is not going to hurt his career because it’s already established. For people to say my decision to do adult film is going to negatively come back to him, that makes no sense. His work and my work have nothing to do with each other. I am not hurting my dad’s career by doing porn.”—Keith Murphy
