Morgan Freeman, Alfonso "Carlton" Ribeiro Killed By The Internet

Morgan Freeman, Alfonso "Carlton" Ribeiro Killed By The Internet

VIBE Pop Culture Posted September 10, 2012

The InternetS attempted to claim two more souls for its digital grave.

Rejoice and be amazed—Morgan Freeman and Alfonso "Carlton" Ribeiro are not dead! Somehow the famed actors were continuously killed off by the Internet and became trending topics worldwide as a result, even if it wasn't true.

On September 7, E! Online confirmed that the Through the Wormhole host did not die, his rep saying the following, "Morgan is alive and well, and joins the long list of actors who have been victimized by this hoax." Freeman may soon join Eddie Murphy and Jackie Chan with the most death hoaxes in a short time, yet Alfonso Ribeiro may quickly climb up the list if the Internets have any say so. Along with the most recent death hoax victims, there was an R.I.P. page set up for Freeman on Facebook and a R.I.P. meme photobomb plastered on timelines around the world for Ribeiro.

Thousands of people flocked to the page, commenting their condolences, and grew the topic to 1,000,000+ searches in the U.S. alone.

While it is a relief to know that Ribeiro and Freeman are not doing the Carlton Dance in heaven, Ribeirio was quick to comment on becoming the latest addition to the Internet death hoax, tweeting, "I guess FB has a page saying I died. I wonder what people are gonna say at my funeral???" Later, the actor-director reaches out to friend (and former boy band-er) Joey Fatone to let him know if he actually dies. "I'm gonna make sure I let you know first. Lol."
