With a reworking of Stevie Wonder's "As" playing in the background, another peek of Nas in the film adaptation of the Langston Hughes musical Black Nativity is here. Black Nativity, directed by Kasi Lemmons, has a power cast. The leads are played by Oscar winners Forest Whitaker and Jennifer Hudson. Angela Bassett, Tyrese Gibson and Mary J. Blige also round out the cast along with Nasir Jones.
The gospel-heavy Black Nativity is about a Baltimore teen (played by Jacob Latimore) raised by a single mother (Hudson) who has to spend Christmas in Harlem with his church-going grandparents (Whitaker and Bassett) he doesn't know after his mother is evicted from her home. Along the way he discovers new things about himself and his family.
Black Nativity is out Nov. 27.
