New 'Die Hard' Film Tops Box Offices with $25M Debut

Christopher Harris Posted February 17, 2013

Looks like it was a good weekend to Die Hard.

The latest installment in the Die Hard series A Good Day to Die Hard debuted at the No.1 spot at the box office. The fifth Die Hard movie, starring Bruce Willis and Jai Courtney, made $25 million over the weekend extending its total to $33.2 million since opening in theaters on Thursday, Feb 14.

It's been six years since Live Free Die Hard helped revive the series in theaters and twenty-five years since the original hit screens in 1988. Live Free Die Hard made $33.3 million in its first weekend and would go on to become the most successful film in the series. Identity Thief [$23.4 million] came in second this weekend followed by Safe Haven [$21.4 million].
