Former NFL player Junior Seau was found dead in his California home on Wednesday.
In what appeared to be a suicide, the 43-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and a gun nearby. Police, however, didn't find a suicide note and currently have no clues as to what caused Seau to kill himself.
"I'm sorry to say, Superman is dead," announced Shawn Mitchell, chaplain for the San Diego Chargers. "All of us can appear to be super, but all of us need to reach out and find support when we're hurting."
Having played in the NFL for 20 years, Seau now marks the eight death in San Diego's Super Bowl team whose late members have all passed away before the age of 45.
Seau played his last season in 2009 and was inducted into the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame.
