Nicki Minaj Stops By The Breakfast Club, Says 'Roman Reloaded' Has No Target

Nicki Minaj Stops By The Breakfast Club, Says 'Roman Reloaded' Has No Target

Posted April 3, 2012

Nicki Minaj stopped by Power 105.1's Breakfast Club this morning

for a short and sweet visit on the day of her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’s release.

The Roman rapstress chopped it up with Angela Yee, C Tha God and DJ Envy to talk about the separation of rap and pop on her album and how making a record tailored to one genre was nearly impossible.

“I can’t just do one thing,” Minaj said. “It’s boring to me.”

She also surprised listeners, saying that she hated all her videos. For a woman who is quick to grab the creative control on any project she touches, it’s easy to see that when she has a vision, it must be executed accordingly.

Same goes for her verses. When it comes to spitting, Minaj said she just doesn’t plan the punchlines, a technique that she has mastered with ease.

“When I do rap, I do have to think about silencing critics so I gotta come harder. I focus on the vibe of the record. It’s just ride out music.”

She also admits that she has no specific target on the second installment of Pink Friday, despite contrary opinion on her track "Stupid Hoe," which is rumored to be a verbal attack on Lil Kim. “It’s not about getting at somebody on this particular album,” she said, revealing that she wanted to make the records that her girls can cry with and relate to.

The first lady of YMCMB also discussed rap beef and how some of the grown men in the industry should be wearing panties because of their sensitivity, but said that it’s a necessary part of the equation. “They go at each other all the time subliminally and you’d never know,” Nicki said. “That’s what we do. This is rap.”

Minaj will be stopping by Power 105.1 tomorrow morning for round 2.-- Adelle Platon
