Nicki Minaj's former wig designer is trying to snatch back some bread. Terrence Davidson has filed a complaint against the rapper claiming that she stole his wig designs that he originally created solely for her.
“Her lawyers may complicate it, but we don’t need to get into intellectual-property law. This is basic American morality. Nicki Minaj lied to this man and cheated him," Davidson’s lawyer Christopher Chestnut exclusively told TIME. Chestnut plans to seek $30 million in damages should the case go to trial.
The wig man began working with the "Lookin Ass" MC since January 2010, when he began making her unique hairpieces that quickly became a staple in her colorful ensembles.
The two reportedly planned on going into business together, designing wigs and making a reality TV show. However, as time passed and Minaj’s fame rose, her management team pushed Davidson out of her business ventures. In January 2013, he eventually chucked the deuces to her citing “creative differences."
Now with Minaj selling her wigs on her website and her fragrance bottles having a small version of herself sporting her signature wigs, Davidson says he wants his Benjamins.
Chestnut added, “It’s a classic David versus Goliath situation."
Minaj's reps have yet to comment.
