We've seen this scenario before. After clocking in a certain number of years in the industry, a rapper will push out an album then yell "retirement" out of the blue. Enter N.O.R.E., aka Noreaga, aka Papi. The Queens lyricist, who recently released his Student of the Game album, says he will be taking a step back from rapping after his next album to focus on bossing up.
"I think I need to step away from the game in its totality as an artist, as N.O.R.E., to give these new artists, their full shot," he told MTV News. "Now will I stop rapping? No because I love to rap but will I be putting out albums and will I be touring? That's the thing. I think I just want to sit back and just try to be a CEO."
Watch him talk about his next rap effort Melvin Flynt: The Final Hustle, the follow-up to his 1999 effort Melvin Flynt - Da Hustler, below.
