N.W.A Biopic Will Be Written By A White Woman

Hip-hop is getting the biopic treatment again.

Last March, New Line Cinema announced that the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton was in development. But according to Hollywood Reporter, the urban drama has finally settled on a screenwriter. 

Andrea Berloff, who penned Oliver Stone's 2006 film World Trade Center, will be crafting the rise and fall of one of hip-hop's most eminent rap groups. Producers include Ice Cube and the widow of the late Eazy-E, Tomica Wright.

Casting for Cube, Eazy, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, DJ Yella, and Arabian Prince has yet to be confirmed. 

Dominators of late '80s and early '90s gangsta rap, N.W.A. was known for explicit rhymes and controversial topics, subsequently banning them from several radio stations. Still, the group sold millions of records, but fell out in 1991 due to member tension. —Tracy Garraud
