Oprah Winfrey has been snagged for Ava DuVernay's film Selma, but will be doing more than just role-playing.
The media mogul is not only producing the film along with fellow thespian, Brad Pitt, but she will be portraying Annie Lee Cooper, one the leaders among civil rights protesters in Selma, AL, Deadline reports.
Selma depicts the struggles and triumphs of Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1965 voting campaign that took place during the civil rights movement.
"She was so proud that I was doing this movie and she said, 'Take it baby. Take it all the way. Take it all the way.' She was a part of the movement, worked with Martin Luther King, understood what we were trying to do with this film,' she said.
Oprah will be part of an all-star cast that includes David Oyelowo, Cuba Gooding Jr., rapper Common, and singer Ledisi.
