Tolkiens have a reason to sit side by side Trekkies come the holiday season. Details after the jump.
Director J.J. Abrams has done a stellar job of keeping anything about his "Star Trek" sequel in the dark...until now! According to The Playlist, some lucky fans will get a chance to see the second installment of the sci-fi space odyssey, title "Star Trek into Darkness," as the site is reporting that Paramount will debut the first nine minutes from the film at 500 IMAX 3D locations across the country.
In an extra sense of nerditry, these awesome screenings will take place on December 14, right before IMAX showings of, you guessed it, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." The only thing that could make this better is if they allowed a free screening of "Wreck-It Ralph," or a sneak peek at "Tron 3". If this is anything like what Warner Bros. did with the revamped "Batman" franchise, this opportunity will be cinephiles only attempt to watch it properly in IMAX.
Star Trek into Darkness will hit theaters on May 17, 2013.
