Pharrell Williams' reign just won't let up. The chart-topping producer, who had a hand in some of 2013's biggest hits including Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky," has nabbed his very first Oscar nomination for the Despicable Me 2 hit "Happy."
"Uh, I'm speechless," said Pharrell in an interview Thursday (Jan.18) after the Oscar nominations were announced. "Man, I'm over the moon."
Skateboard P couldn't recall what he was doing when he heard the news but claimed "Happy" was one of his best works, simply because he made it with his eyes closed. Not to say it came with zero effort though; Williams recorded it nine times before he finally felt it was perfect, according to Associated Press.
"It's some of my best work and that's because in the process I made it with my eyes closed," he said. "That's not a reflection of any sort of superiority in any way, shape or form. I didn't do a lot of looking around to try and figure it out. I just closed my eyes and made it by feeling it and I think that's why I am most proud of it."
Let's not forget that the triple threat is also a dominating force at this year's Grammy Awards, getting nods for seven categories including Record of the Year and Producer of the Year.
