This Week on the Decks: JEscape the winter chill this January and start making plans to be straight chillin’ at The BPM Festival 2013. “Playa del VIBE,” is a your weekly countdown source where you’ll find insider 411 from this year’s elite offering of electronic scions leading up to the storied Mexican music-a-thon.

Break out the Cervezas, enjoy the break, wait for for the breakdowns, dance to the breakbeats… going down January 4, 2013 – January 13th, 2013 in Playa del Carmen.

This Week on the Decks: Tone of Arc (Derrick Boyd with partner/vocalist Zoe Presnick)

VIBE: What can we expect from your performance at BPM Fest?
Tone of Arc: White sand, turquoise water, and beautiful people partying in paradise. Oh wait, you meant from us… I’d really like to keep it a surprise I don’t want people knowing exactly what to expect. Takes the fun out of it.

Which act are you most looking forward to catching if you have time? Why?
Thugfucker, Pillowtalk, Soul Clap, Art Department, Lee Burridge, Dyed Soundorom, Adnan Sharif, Dj Tennis, No Regular Play, Safeword, My Favorite Robot, Ellan Alien, Justin Martin, Maceo Plex, Climbers, Benoit & Sergio, Catz & Dogs, Droog, Eats Everything, Dixon, Tanner Ross, and Russ Yallop. They are the best DJs or doing a live performance. If anyone is doing a live performance you need to go see it. Those people are the ones pushing the envelope from within. My kinda crowd.

BPM Festival means: (INSERT THREE WORDS)!
Business, Paradise, Honeymoon

Best reason you can think of for going to the BPM Festival 2013?
There isn’t a DJ you wouldn’t want to see there. It’s like explaining to people what Burning Man is all about. You just have to go and trust the people that are going and automatically think its something you should go to as well. It’s not cheap but who cares. Money isn’t real.

Tips to surviving all the parties for BPM Festival first timers?
Okay this is how it goes down… You get there and your driving down that long ass road from Cancun to Playa. You’re excited off your ass. Get to your place and in a dash you’re out the door to swim in body temperature water and see your favorite DJ’s. You need to eat before you do this. Eat a lot cause your not going to do this for a long time. You go to 2 or 3 shows on the beach or in a sick ass club on the beach with all your new and old friends having a blast feeling the vibes for a long time. Then you’re whiped out and tired. It’s been a long long day. BUT WAIT ! Someone says they are going to a random party somewhere either in a cave or some secluded hut. You need to man up and go too. When you get there you will know that if had not gone, your trip would have been half as good. Oh and there is usually food there at your last point of breaking. Go home, get laid, repeat. You’ll be fine if you fallow this. Only this year I’m going to get out on a boat and also go to some mayan ruins. Its that time in life to check something really cool like that out. Life isn’t all a party. Or is it ??????????

Latest or upcoming release we should pay attention to?
We have a dance EP called ‘FALLOW YOUR HEART’ with four of my more edgy and jackin’ vibes on January 3rd 2013 (TODAY!) right when I go to BPM and THE TIME WAS RIGHT album we are shooting for my [Derrick’s] birthday, Feb 7th 2013.
