Poker Champ Arrested in Prostitution Sting
Former World Series of Poker champion Gregory Paul Raymer and five others were arrested in an undercover prostitution sting in North Carolina.
Raymer, who plays under the name Fossilman, won the World Series of Poker in 2004. Wake Forest police arrested the 48-year-old at a hotel after he solicited a prostitute online through an advertisement put up by an undercover cop on a website.
“In this instance, we conducted the operation at a local hotel with its full cooperation,” Police Chief Jeffrey Leonard said in a statement. “We are not aware of this type of criminal activity ever occurring at the hotel. Our officers selected the hotel for the undercover operation at random.”
Raymer and the five others were released on $1000 bail and have to go to court on April 16.
