Premiere: Late Night Tales Presents Bill Brewster’s After Dark ‘Nightshift’

/ July 1, 2014

The series known for night owls with sound sonic tastes, Late Night Tales, welcomes back cult figure and supreme musical tastemaker, Bill Brewster, to compile his second episode of the curated compilation series ‘After Dark.’ An obscure and timeless journey, setting sail somewhere near ocean, with the waves crashing faintly and hypnotically on the shoreline. As the sun goes down, a pulsing bass is heard like a click track to the waves encompassing ‘After Dark: Nightshift.’

Bill Brewster brings an atmosphere unlike other DJs thanks to a truly emotive sensibility, connection to his surroundings and encyclopedic wealth of music knowledge. With roots in soul and funk, NightShift is steady, like the tempo to a happy heartbeat after some satisfying “lights-out” activities.

VIBE has the exclusive premiere of Day Outside – “Faraway Sensation,” off the compilation.

“When I first embarked on the track selection for this project, I emailed a few producer friends to see if they had any previously or as yet unreleased material that they wouldn’t mind me using for After Dark 2: Nightshift. Fernando Pulichino, for it is he, sent me so many great songs, I spent a week ploughing through them. I could’ve easily filled this mix with nothing but Fernando tracks, but resisted and opted for this post-punk-esque killer.” –Bill Brewster
