Maad*moiselle's art pops. The singer/songstress, by way of Washington Heights and New Jersey, has previously splashed onto the pages of Cosmo, Seventeen and VIBE as a model but is now grabbing the mic with her manicured hands.
For the visual treatment of her Lehkz (#PRODUCEDBYTHEVAMP)-produced cut "Killa," she turned a moment of crazy into song and also taps close friend A$AP Ferg for some extra wordplay.
"Lehkz and I were sitting in the studio and I just randomly started chanting 'It ain't hard to be this fancy,'" she explains. "I started stomping and clapping - basically just having a good time as we always do in the studio, not knowing he was recording all of my movements. He actually made it part of the production if you listen closely. 'Killa' is just a light hearted confident, brash, in your face record. It's probably the most uninhibited record on the project."
When it comes to penning her lines, she finds inspiration everywhere.
"I feel like there's inspiration all around us," she says. "I tend to write about situations I've been in or have heard my friends talk about. My parents were a huge inspiration as well, they were both in the arts and I guess that just rubbed off on me. I recall my mother always playing CHIC, Tina Tuner, Diana Ross along with the other greats. They all embodied such timeless fashionable style."
Watch her slay in her A$AP Ferg-assisted visual up top and stay tuned for her debut album Indigo, slated for a 2014 release.
