If a certain tweet by The Hitmen's Jeffrey "J. Dub" Walker's is true, we may all be in for a treat. According to the producer of "I Can Be" and "I Refuse" from Aaliyah's self-titled album, the singer, who died in 2001, may have an upcoming posthumous album release. The song, entitled "Steady Ground," has been regarded by Walker as a "smash."
It wouldn't be the first release by Aaliyah since her untimely death, ( 2002's I Care For You and 2005's Ultimate Aaliyah), but this may be her first non-compilation record, including songs that have not been previously released. Her label, Blackground Records, has yet to confirm the album, but the idea of it is exciting in itself.
We will definitely keep our ears to the streets on this one. --Iyana Robertson
