After months of controversy, Michael Rapaport’s documentary, Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest, is finally hitting theaters this Friday (June 8).
Tribe frontman Q-Tip says that he’s got its back.
“Yeah. If we wouldn’t be in support of the film it wouldn’t have been out,” Q-Tip said in a recent sit-down with Hot 97. “When I said I wasn’t in support of it on Twitter, the director needed to respect the subjects… it was an editing thing. It was more like a flair, to get his attention. Two days later they came and worked on the edit.”
Rapaport is not the only one Q-Tip has tied loose ends with. Phife Dawg have also made amends, with Phife calling in during the Hot 97 interview to share his piece. “Yeah. C’mon, I’m not a bad guy,” he said to Angie Martinez.
