Question Of The Day: The-Dream > Kanye West... Really?

Gotta love year-end lists. Our friends over at New York Magazine recently released their top ten pop albums of the year for their Year In Culture package with The-Dream's Love King sitting at an astonishingly high #2 spot... just high enough to shit on what almost everyone and their Twitter followers called the mega-album of 2010—Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Of course everyone is entitled to their personal opinion (no matter how ludicrous it reads), but something about placing MBDTF at #8 just feels dopey—perhaps even aurally challenged. Just last week Mr. Tricky Stewart himself spilled that Dream would most likely retire his "retirement" to better produce a final album for his Love trilogy. And the only fitting catalyst we could see for this call to action is what? An underwhelming finale album— which is most fans dubbed it. And yes, The-Dream has concocted his share of exemplary hits (after all our Assistant Editor, Tracy Garraud is an almost religious "Terius" stan), but sonically, lyrically, vocally, fucking awesomely, Love King is incomparable to the splendorific body of work that is My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. And in case you need 500+ words for justification, drag your finger here. But hey, maybe this list was created after puffing from Miley's bong. That would've tripped up our ordering as well.
