TBS greenlit a comedy pilot with Rashida Jones and now it looks like the show will become a family affair, as her real life parents, Quincy Jones and Peggy Lipton, join the cast to play her TV parents.
Tribeca is a satirical look at a police procedural anchored by Angie Tribeca (Rashida Jones), a 10-year veteran of the LAPD. Directed by Steve Carell from a script he wrote with his wife, Nancy Carell, the single-camera comedy explores an eccentric but brilliant group of people who investigate crime, reveal too much personal information, and refuse to rest until justice has been served.
Quincy Jones and Peggy Lipton are set to portray the parents of Rashida's character, and Alfred Molina will be a potential reoccurring star in the show. Molina will play Dr. Edelweiss, a solemn and serious handwriting expert who also has a penchant for toys.
Mostly known for his work as a producer, Quincy has rarely appeared as an actor. He appeared in 1978's The Wiz, the television series Ironside and Life Goes On. Lipton's TV credits include House of Lies, Crash, Alias, Twin Peaks and Mod Squad. She also recently appeared on the big screen in When in Rome.
Production for Tribeca is scheduled to begin sometime next month.
