R. Kelly is the latest celebrity to have fallen a victim to tax troubles with the IRS.
According to documents read by the Chicago Sun Times, the R&B singer, whose real name is Robert S. Kelly, owes taxes dating back to 2005. Though Kelly reportedly paid one million dollars in back taxes last year and $2.6 million in 2008, the documents further reveal he still owes $4.8 million to the federal government.
Last year, R. Kelly was forced to sell his Chicago mansion due to failed payment on his mortgage. He also underwent emergency throat surgery before the release of his 10th studio album Love Letters in 2010.
Kelly has yet to comment on the situation at hand, but according to the Chicago Sun Times, a spokesperson for his camp has insisted he doesn’t have financial problems.
R. Kelly is due to release his 11th studio album, Write Me Back, on June 26th.
