Raekwon Reveals Disappointment With New Wu-Tang Album

You might have noticed that a couple key members are missing from the new Wu-Tang single, ‘Keep Watch,’ that dropped earlier this week, namely Rae and Ghost. In a recent extensive Grantland piece on the Wu-Tang family, Rae admits that he has no reservations blaming RZA for his own lack of involvement:

“I would be the first one to say that we cannot leave everything in RZA’s hand no more,” Rae says. “He has done his job to the greatest of his ability when we were younger, but now every man plays an imperative role in this situation. His plan was to do a more humble album. We was like, Nah. You can’t do that with the hardest group in the game.”

The piece contains several other quotes from Wu members about the new album, A Better Tomorrow, which is supposedly “almost ready to ship,” but most telling is probably GZA’s comment: “It would be great to do another album, come back with a banger. But I don’t think we have anything to prove. We proved it already.” Sounds like the Wu members have checked out of the mansion. — Max Weinstein
