New York's popo are cracking down on music hustlers in Times Square. According to NY Daily News, rappers selling their music on the city streets have filed a joint lawsuit against the NYPD for violating their First Amendment rights and for possible harassment from officers.
Authorities arrested the rappers on charges of disorderly conduct and aggressive begging, which some of the rappers claim to be dismissed allegations.
One rapper named Andre Jackson, who was said to be arrested 30 times for hustling, said, “They don’t want us making money out here, we’re having fun out here. We’re doing something we’re allowed to do. I guess they had their dreams that they didn’t fulfill. Now we have our dreams and they want to shut us down.”
