Really? Lacrosse Player Wears Blackface

The Duke website put up a picture of a female lacrosse player wearing blackface this week, before quickly yanking it offline. The University's official website briefly put a picture from a Halloween party online, showing a student athlete apparently dressed as "Buckwheat" from the Little Rascals, in full blackface makeup.

While the image is now gone, it seems that the image was taken at the lacrosse coach's home, which certainly shows some bad judgement (or worse) on the part of everyone involved. This is the latest in a checkered history for Duke lacrosse, scandals, and race relations - the program is still synonymous with the sexual assault scandal that rocked college sports in 2006.
