Redman Puts A Hazy Twist On New Mixtape, ‘Remixxes’

/ October 27, 2013

On his latest mixtape Remixxes, Redman gets inspired by everybody. Reggie has handpicked 17 hip-hop and R&B gems and applied his own toker-friendly lyrics to them.

He converts Justin Timberlake’s “Rock Your Body” into a smokers anthem called “Smoke Wit Me,” singing “Don’t be so quick to smoke away.” He does the same thing for the Jay Z and Kanye West Watch the Throne track “No Church In The Wild,” which he converts to “Sourdeezal.” Redman replaces Frank Ocean’s feature on the original tune (“What’s a mob to a king? What’s a king to a God? What’s a God to a non-believer who don’t believe in anything?“) with the lyrics “I smoke purp to the haze/ Smoke haze to the cheech/ Smoke cheeze to the kush/ Smoke kush to the Sourdeezal.

Redman dives into other tracks by Jadakiss, Big Sean, Twista and even turns Stevie Wonder’s “Key of Life” into a duet titled “Smoke All Day” featuring neo-soul artist Melanie Rutherford. “I’ll be smoking weed all day,” sings Redman where Wonder would usually croon “I’ll be loving you always.”

Remixxes is an entertaining spin to say the least, and the perfect companion for your 4:20. Spin Redman’s new joint below.
