Reggae great Cedric Brooks died Friday in New York at age 70.
Brooks, an influential saxophonist and a renowned reggae great dies after being incapacitated in 2010 following cardiac arrest. He has been in a hospital in Queens, NY ever since, only able to communicate via small gestures.
The Jamaican-born Brooks collaborated with many legends, including Count Ossie and the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari and The Skatalites, and had his own band called Light of Saba.
He leaves behind seven children.
