Rest In Peace: Rapper Obie Trice Loses Mother to Breast Cancer

Posted July 14, 2011

VIBE is sad to report the loss of Ms. Elanore Trice, the mother, of rapper Obie Trice.

Ms. Elanore passed away on Tuesday, July 12th, from Breast Cancer. Details other than the direct cause of death are unsure but the Detroit-bred emcee had this to say:

"My mom was always in my corner and her presence will be missed tremendously. I'm more determined than ever to ensure I not only impact the music industry but also my community, just as she expected." – told to AllHipHop.com

To keep the memory of his mother alive, Obie Trice has pledged to become involved in Detroit’s Race For The Cure, an event sponsored by Susan G. Komen For the Cure, a widely known Breast Cancer Foundation. Music wise, the Eminem protégé's long awaited third studio album, “Bottom’s Up”, is still in the works. - Tyler McDermott

Check out the video below of “Don’t Come Down”, a song dedicated to his mother from his 2003 debut album, “Cheers”:
