After tearing down the Fader Fort at SXSW, Rick Ross and MMG jumped on the jet and headed across the pond for a Mastermind promo run. First on his agenda was to stop over at BBC Radio to holla at Zane Lowe for a detailed pow wow. Though their chat wasn’t as in-depth as Kanye and Jay’s, Rozay did open up how he controls the MMG empire, his musical tastes outside of rap, his unique references and more.
Towards the end, Lowe and Ross took a nostalgic stroll down memory lane and talked about the days of vinyl which I found was really cool. At the end of the day, Rick is a true hip-hop stan and really studied the artists that came before him. Finally, Ross says he is writing a major motion picture that he thinks has the potential to make hundreds of millions.
“Where am I from: rule number one in my handbook [is] don’t let the game kill, don’t let the streets kill you,” Ross says. “And if you ever give yourself a false sense of security I think that’s the best way to do that. So it’s really about following your heart and this is what I’m following.”
Rozay also passed by the Tim Westwood show while in Europe. Check out both interviews below.
